Hotels Durham

Radisson Blu Hotel, Durham

Frankland Ln, Durham DH1 5TA, UK – 0191 372 7200

Top notch. Pool, workout area, and sauna are a giant bonus! As a traveling student abroad, this was refreshing to use the gym and sauna. Very much a bonus perk. Room was clean and very well kept. Breakfast was superb as well. Very much what you would expect in a top notch hotel! Bar was nice to relax at night as well. Staff was friendly and helpful when trying to asses the amenities and options as well. Would stay again and we’ll worth the price!

Excellent breakfast. Lots of choice. Red hot. Nothing too much trouble. Clean comfortable rooms and great pool and spa

Durham Marriott Hotel Royal County

Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JN, UK – 0191 386 6821

I have been to multiple Marriott hotels around the world and they all have a high standard of service. The Durham Marriott is no different. It is an older building which has charms and quirks but the staff are lovely and ever willing to help. I have found them kind and courteous. My room was large and well laid out as would be expected. The prices are higher than the Travelodge but the level of expectation of comfort and service is much higher. The staff show initiative problem resolution.

Went here for my birthday and i really had a great time. Very centrally based which is ideal for a night out in Durham. The hotel staff were very professional and welcomed us with a glass of Prosecco which we thought was a great touch. The restaurant and bar food was awesome. I would definitely return as Durham is the most classiest city in the North east and the hotel more than reflected that.

The Town House

34 Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3HN, UK – 0191 384 1037

Came for a meal with my family for my mams birthday (9people) It was a wonderful night great service lovely food and the place was perfect for us Highly recommend it!

Absolutely loved staying here, gorgeous room.. smelt a little funny but other than that was great. Staff really helpful. 10/10 offers competitive rates for any type of hotel, from small independent hotels to a five star luxury ones. The site is available in 24 languages and offers over 71000 hotels in 71 countries. Could be useful for you. There are of course several such sites.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Durham Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Angel

53 Crossgate, Durham DH1 4PR, UK – 0191 386 5561

A proper Rock/punk bar. Live music, good choice of drinks, cool staff and friendly customers. Might need ear plugs haha. Oh and chilled out beer garden out the back. My favourite pub in Durham.

Great bar with great live bands every week. Prices are cheaper than a lot of other places in town, staff are very friendly. One of a kind bar in Durham with nothing else like it.

The Duke Of Wellington

Darlington Rd, Durham DH1 3QN, UK – 0191 375 7651

Good range of largest, beers & cider. Several tasty looking gin cocktails. Good food menu. Nice afternoon atmosphere. Appeared clean & well maintained. Sevice a little slow but staff very pleasant & helpful. Car park a little awkward in places.

Waiting and bar staff are delightful, simply DELIGHT. If you are going there for a meal and or special occasion you will not be disappointed. Main courses (and especially the deserts) are spectacular and very well priced with reasonable portions My only gripes from the experience overall would be to say that the chip portions are slightly on the smaller side and the steaks, when asked for medium-rare often come back as rare. This has been a repeated issue - indeed. In conclusion, This review should not at all deter you from visiting this fine eatery establishment. The very friendly staff make you feel welcome and the overall dining experience is just short of euphoric.

Newton Grange Durham

Brasside, Durham DH1 5SA, UK – 0191 384 4708

Excellent food. Quick service. Friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more. We will definitely be back.

Lovely Sunday lunch with lots on the plate. Delicious red velvet cheesecake gateau for dessert. Excellent wines choice. Always friendly service.

Brilliant :) .Thank you so much for the lovely room (beautiful and a joy to stay in). Bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was superb. Thanks also for your help when we wanted to know which restaurants to visit. We were surprised just how quick and convenient it is to use the bus from just outside the guest house into Durham. It's a beautiful city. We will be staying with you again next time we visit. Many thanks again, Sue and Stuart

Lovely BnB.Owner was always really helpful. Really nice breakfast and would stay here again.

The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Durham Campsites and Caravan Parks

Durham Grange Caravan and Motorhome Club Site

Meadow Lane, Durham DH1 1TL, UK – 0191 384 4778

Great site - very convenient for visiting Durham. Mostly caravans and motorhomes, but with a nice camping area. Plenty of showers, private wash basins and toilets - spotlessly clean. Washing-up facilities but no fridges or freezers as far as well could see (camping pitches all have hook-ups).

Very comfortable, welcoming site. Easy to find and, despite its proximity to the motorway, we slept well and didn't find the road noise to be too intrusive. Extremely well-kept site with a genuinely warm welcome to boot from the lovely wardens. Facilities are excellent, great shower block - warm and very clean . Very good motorhome service point with recycling/water/chemical loos located around the site. We took a taxi to and from the site to Durham. The cathedral is really interesting and we very much enjoyed the "Treasures" exhibition there. Pleasant lunch at Venners cafe - homemade quiche, very tasty and decent-sized portions too. We will definitely stay here again the next time our travels take us to the North East.

Low Carrs Residential Park

Durham DH1 5HG, UK – 0330 005 0121

I go here with work quite often. It's very quiet and seems a really lovely place to stay. The caravans are very warm no matter the weather

New build, residential area. Nature reserve close by, good for walks
