Local Bookshops

69 Saddler St, Durham DH1 3NP, UK – 0191 383 1488

Fabulous bookshop in the centre of Durham. Went in to buy books for my teenagers, the assistant was really helpful. Unfortunately the 400+ pages of 'Scythe' by Nepal Shusterman only kept the young one occupied for 2 days. A great book then!

Nicely set out. Busy downstairs but quieter in the history section upstairs

People's Bookshop Durham

A hidden gem. A welcoming volunteer-run bookshop with a great selection of old and new socialist/progressive literature. A must visit.

A great range of new and second hand books, and friendly and helpful staff.

55-57 Saddler St, Durham DH1 3EJ, UK – 0191 384 2095

Visited with my nearly 12 year old looking for a book similar to 'Wonder'. We asked for recommendations from the girl in the children's section and she was exceptional. She asked great questions to help understand what exactly we were looking for... Spoke directly to my stepdaughter and found us some brill books. She clearly loved books and the memory of how happy my stepdaughter was will stay with me for a long time. This is why physical book shops will survive!

Great staff. Always helpful and they make the extra effort to find a book or recommend an alternative.
